Public Works: The City of Westmorland public works department has 5 employees and owns and operates its own water & wastewater treatment plants. The primary water source is the Colorado river, delivered by the Imperial Irrigation District to the city via the All American canal and the Westmorland canal. The water treatment plant currently has a capacity of approximately 2.0 million gallons a day (MGD), which is capable of providing adequate service for the entire city.
Police: The city of Westmorland has 5 officers including the Chief of Police, Fred Beltran. The law enforcement performance standards for the city of Westmorland are 2.3 officers per 1,000 people and 140 square feet of building area per employee. The Department is located at 355 South Center Street adjacent to City Hall and can be reached by calling (760) 344-3457, 344-2111(dispatch service) or 911(for emergencies only)
Fire: The fire department currently operates with 22 volunteers and one part-time fire chief, Sergio Cruz. Currently, the city has a contract agreement with the County of Imperial to receive certain fire protection equipment in exchange for their fire protection services. The Department monitors the demand on fire protection facilities and services.
Parks: The city has a central park located on Center Street with large shade trees, a recreation facility, public swimming pool and a "Little Citizens Park." Work has started on a new sports complex due to be completed by summer 2006, which will include lighted soccer fields, baseball diamonds, picnic area and a fingers lake.
